The Best Kevin Bacon Films Up To This Point

This article will focus on the illustrious career of Kevin Bacon. Kevin Bacon’s first movie was in 1978, and he has been starring in all sorts of movies ever since. He can dance, play comedic roles, serious roles, and is especially good at playing a villain in films.

But which films have been his best? The following movies are my personal top five favorite films starring Kevin Bacon.

One of the best movies that featured Kevin Bacon is JFK. Now, I am not the biggest fan of Oliver Stone films, but I have to give praise where praise is due. JFK is just a great film, and probably the director’s second best film next to Platoon.

Another great film starring Kevin Bacon is The Air Up There. Ok, maybe this isn’t a great movie by the Academy’s standards, but it was a very enjoyable film and better than a lot of the other basketball films that have come out in recent years.

One movie that cannot be overlooked when discussing the best Kevin Bacon films of years past is Sleepers. In this film, Mr. Bacon plays an evil jail guard who tortured and raped little boys in a juvenile penitentiary. The film focuses on the grown up boys dealing with their past.

Another fantastic film starring Kevin Bacon is A Few Good Men. This film was written by Aaron Sorkin who happens to be one of the best screenwriters in the game. This was a breakout movie for Sorkin’s career and this movie also stars Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise.

One other movie that I feel is worthy of mentioning is The River Wild. This was a suspenseful movie that takes place on a river as a pair of bad men going down a river takes a family as hostages. This movie also stars the always great Meryl Streep.

These are just some of the best Kevin Bacon films of his career. With so many movies under his belt, it is tough to limit it to just five.

A Variety Of The Greatest Movies From The Incredibly Underrated Actor, Tommy Lee Jones

One actor who has been in so many great films, it is hard to keep track, is Tommy Lee Jones. Jones started acting in the early 1970s, and has not slowed down since. He has been in all sorts of films, from action and adventure, to Westerns, and even comedy. He is a truly amazing actor and the accolades he has collected over the years help show that.

Let’s take a look at some of the greatest Tommy Lee Jones films of his long career.

The first movie that I will mention on this list is The Fugitive. If you have not yet seen The Fugitive, you are depriving yourself of one of the best movies of the 1990s. Tommy Lee Jones won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for this film. This movie also stars Harrison Ford as a wrongfully accused doctor who is being charged with the murder of his wife. He must track down the killer while avoiding getting arrested in the process.

Also starring Tommy Lee Jones and highly recognized by the Academy was No Country For Old Men. While Jones was as good as he could be in this film, the true star of this movie was Javier Bardem, who played one of the greatest cinematic villains in recent memory. Javier Bardem was a shoe in for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

One film that featured Tommy Lee Jones that I loved was Batman Forever. When it comes to quality, this film does not come close to Christopher Nolan’s most recent Batman films, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. But that doesn’t mean that this film isn’t a fun watch. Tommy Lee Jones plays the role of Two Face.

While they are not my personal favorite films, I do think you have to give credit to the Men In Black movies. These movies have grossed so much money that it cannot be ignored. A third installment is on the way as well.

Finally, I will include Olver Stone’s JFK on this list. This film focuses on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and how there was more to it than originally thought. Kevin Kostner stars in this movie as well.

It is clear after going through Tommy Lee Jones’ film catalog that he has had quite the fair share of excellent movies.

Some Of The Best Films From The Incredibly Funny Actor, Robin Williams

One of the undisputed kings of comedy is Robin Williams. It is funny, because in his stand up act, Robin Williams is incredibly dirty, however his movies shape him out to be a more wholesome person. I guess him and Bob Sagat are similar in this respect. Robin Williams, however is an incredible actor who has had more than his fair share of great films.

But which Robin Williams movies are the best? Here are some of my personal favorites.

Before Big Momma’s House and before John Travolta decided to play a lady in the hit film Hairspray, Robin Williams had his iconic performance as the role of Mrs. Doubtfire. This is one of my favorite comedies of the 90s and a great one to watch with the family.

Another film that certainly makes the cut for me is Aladdin. Sure, this is an animated film, but it is definitely one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. Williams voices Genie, which I didn’t know until recently.

One movie that has to be included on this list, and is probably my favorite of any on this list, is Good Will Hunting. This movie stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Minnie Driver and of course, Robin Williams. Williams won a best supporting actor Oscar for this film, as did Damon and Affleck for best original screenplay.

Another movie that I definitely have to include on this list is Dead Poet’s Society. Williams stars as professor John Keating, a teacher who inspires his students to seize the day with their love of poetry. This movie also stars Ethan Hawke.

One other film that I will add to this list is Jumanji. This is one of the better children’s films from the early 1990s, and is well worth showing to your kids if they have never seen it before. Night At The Museum would not exist without this movie’s inspiration.

This was not an easy article to write, as most of Robin Williams’ movies are enjoyable.

Nicholas Cage’s Finest Roles In The Last Two Decades

If you want to talk about prolific actors who continue to churn out movies year after year, Nicholas Cage has to be at the top of the list. Sure, the guy has found himself in financial difficulties, which may help to explain his current splurge of roles in a new movie almost every two months, but the guy can act and remains one of my favorite actors.

For whatever the reason, here are my personal favorite Nicholas Cage films in recent memory.

The first film that I will mention is The Rock. Where do I start with this movie? This film is everything that I miss about awesome 90s action flicks. Quotable lines, awesome action, chases, explosions and the perfect amount of humor mixed in.

Plain and simple there would not be a Fast And Furious franchise without its predecessor, Gone In 60 Seconds. Nicholas Cage was the man in this high speed action film (no pun intended). Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michele Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster all owe whatever careers they have to Nicholas Cage and crew for this one.

Another movie of this great actor that I feel the need to mention is Matchstick Men. In this film Nicholas Cage plays a con artist who unexpectedly gets the surprise that he has a teenage daughter, whom he has to take under his wing.

Face Off is another movie that I certainly have to mention. Directed by John Woo, this movie stars Travolta and Cage as a cop and villain respectively, but then both undergo a series of operations to switch identities. Great action and fight scenes ensue.

On the softer side of things, one film of his that I really enjoyed was It Could Happen To You. I normally am not a fan of romantic dramas, but this film felt real and was a feel good movie. This one definitely has my seal of approval.

Finally, one other movie that most people didn’t care for, but I will mention is Windtalkers. I thought this one was good, but for whatever reason I am in the minority.

Vince Vaughn’s Greatest Acting Performances In Recent Memory

One of the funniest actors our there is Vince Vaughn. It would be wrong to say that this funnyman is limited to comedies, but that is definitely the genre that he is most comfortable working in. Over the years, Vince Vaughn has starred in a number of great films and it is no surprise that he is such a likable actor. His shtick is hilarious.

But what are his best films? Here are some of my favorite Vince Vaughn films ever.

While he was not the star, Anchorman was such a funny movie that it simply has to be mentioned. The stand off scene in this movie has so many cameos, it is absolutely ridiculous. Vaughn is just one of many.

Another movie that I would have to include on this list is Wedding Crashers. I have a serious problem with Wedding Crashers; it is one of those movies that any time I catch it on television, I have to watch it in its entirety.

No list of Vince Vaughn films would be complete without mentioning Into The Wild. A little known fact about this movie is that another great actor, Sean Penn, actually directed it. Another great fact about this movie is that Eddie Vedder, the lead singer of Pearl Jam, wrote most, if not all, of the songs on the soundtrack.

One of Vince Vaughn’s best movies of all time is definitely Old School. This is the Animal House of the modern age, and one of my favorite comedies in recent memory. This movie also stars Will Ferrell and Luke Wilson.

Finally, no list of Vince Vaughn films would be complete without mentioning Swingers. This is another classic comedy that happens to star Jon Favreau, Ron Livingston, Vaughn and Heather Graham.

It is clear from going through this list that Vince Vaughn has starred in some pretty funny films, as well as some quality ones.

The Greatest Morgan FreemanPerformances Throughout The Years

One of my absolutely favorite actors of all time is without a doubt Morgan Freeman. Morgan Freeman has been in so many amazing films that the man deserves a separate award from the Academy Awards. Not only has he been in such a high number of quality films, but most of the films he has been in are at the very least, enjoyable movies.

The following movies are my top 5 favorites starring Morgan Freeman.

The first film I will mention just so happens to be my favorite film of all time: The Shawshank Redemption. If you have yet to see this absolutely incredible movie, then it should immediately move up to number one on your list of things to do. This is as good as movies get.

In the film Lucky Number Slevin, Freeman departs from his normal good guy role and plays an evil mob boss. In my opinion this movie is vastly underrated and if you like a good switch and bait story, look no further.

Also on my all time list of favorite Morgan Freeman films is Glory. In this film, which happens to be one of the greatest Civil War movies ever made (if not the greatest), Freeman plays Sergeant Major John Rawlins. An inspirational film to say the least.

Another movie that he stars in which I thoroughly enjoyed was Unleashed. Mr. Freeman plays a blind man to perfection in this film, which also stars Jet Li and is directed by Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle.

One other film of this incredible actor’s that I feel the need to include on this list is Unleashed, or Danny The Dog. This movie was directed by Danny Boyle, who also directed 28 Days Later, Sunshine, and of course, Slumdog Millionaire.

Hopefully there are several films on this list of Morgan Freeman films that you have yet to see, as they are all incredible movies that are worth seeing.

The Most Memorable Joe Pesci Movies Throughout The Years

When making a list of the greatest actors working today, one person that often goes overlooked is Joe Pesci. Maybe that is because he quietly has been staying away from the silver screen; in the past ten years, he has only been in two films. You cannot question the films this man has been in though. He is a truly amazing actor.

This article will highlight some of the best Joe Pesci movies of his career.

It goes without saying that Home Alone makes the cut. Who would have thought that a humorous story about a boy getting left home on the holidays would translate into such an iconic film? Maybe Pesci knew this franchise had legs.

In Goodfellas, Joe Pesci plays the part of Tommy DeVito, a gangster in the truest sense of the word. This has to be one of the best mafia movies of all time, and any time it is on television, I feel the need to watch it in its entirety.

While he may not have been the starring role, one movie that I certainly enjoyed featuring Joe Pesci was A Bronx Tale. This film reunited the duo of Pesci and De Niro, and it would not be the last time they would star in a film together.

I definitely need to include My Cousin Vinny on my top five Joe Pesci film list. This movie holds a special place in my heart. For one reason or another, this was a film that was on quite often in my household growing up.

One of the best movies of the early 1980s was, without a doubt, Raging Bull. This was not your Disney boxing film; this is a dark and gritty performance, by both Pesci and De Niro. Robert De Niro was very much deserving of his Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

As of now, this is my list. I have still not seen Once Upon a Time in America, which is supposed to be excellent as well. That film just may make the cut.

The Best Tom Hanks Movies In His Career

If we want to make an argument or top 10 list of the best actors of all time, one actor that you can certainly make an argument for is Tom Hanks. Ever since his role in Splash, Tom Hanks has been one of the objectively likable guys working in Hollywood. He just seems like a good person and I feel that resonates through his roles.

There’s a lot to like about Tom Hanks, and as such I feel he deserves one of my patented top 5 lists.

“Hi, my name’s Forrest, Forrest Gump.” It should not come as a surprise that this movie makes the cut, as any list of Tom Hanks films (or best of lists from the 1990s) that failed to include this movie would simply put, be wrong.

In Big, Tom Hanks plays the part of a boy in an adult’s body. This is one of the best movies to come out of the 80s, and even in a comedy like this, Hanks’ talent shines through.

One other great movie of his is of course, Saving Private Ryan. Any time you put Spielberg and Hanks together, you are going to get a quality movie. Any time you put Spielberg in charge of directing a WWII film, and you are likely to have a masterpiece.

Another great film starring Tom Hanks which you may or may not have seen is A League Of Their Own. This film focuses on an all girls baseball league that is formed during World War II when all the men are off at war.

The final film which I would like to give a shout out to is The Da Vinci Code. Personally, I liked the book better, but I cannot picture someone doing a better job in the role of Robert Langdon.

If there is a film I left off this list, do not worry. Tom Hanks always manages to make incredible movies and this list will have to be reevaluated in a few years.

Some Of The Greatest Films Directed By The Iconic, Ridley Scott

One director who is often overlooked in conversations of the greats is Ridley Scott. Sir Ridley Scott has been putting out quality films for the better part of four decades, and continues to direct fantastic movies. Few people have as many accolades and iconic films under their belt as he does.

This article will highlight and discuss what I consider to be the best Ridley Scott films of his illustrious career.

One of the most iconic films that Ridley Scott directed was without a doubt, Thelma and Louise. This film starred Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon as the renegades Thelma and Louise, respectively. If you haven’t seen this film and are a fan of either of these actresses, you must.

Black Hawk Down is another great Ridley Scott film. This is one of the few films that depicts war in Africa so well. This movie just has such a real feel to it, not to mention an amazing cast in Josh Hartnett, Eric Bana, Ewan McGregor and Tom Sizemore.

If you are a fan of Ridley Scott movies, then you have to be a fan of Gladiator. This very well may be his best movie ever, and it was well deserving of the Best Picture Oscar that it won. This movie spurned a revival in Roman gladiator genre films, but none of the others came close to repeating its brilliance.

Another iconic film from the great Ridley Scott is Blade Runner. This movie set the precedent for many of the great science fiction films that we have come to love today. This is also one of Harrison Ford’s best roles in my opinion.

One other movie that I feel is worthy of mentioning is Kingdom Of Heaven. Few people do war films as good as he does and this film was proof of it. No, it was not as good as Gladiator, but it was still an enjoyable film.

Did I miss one of your favorite Ridley Scott films? Honestly, I’m not surprised, as most of his films are great.

Sean Penn And His Most Impressive Acting Performances In Recent Memory

Sean Penn is one actor who has definitely been the center of a good amount of controversy in recent years. It seems he cannot stay out of the spotlight, whether he means to or not.

I cannot say I am the biggest fan of Sean Penn as a person, but as an actor? There are few who do it better. Here are some of my favorite films that he has starred in.

One movie that is tough to glance over when discussing Sean Penn movies is Milk, in which he potrays true life political figure Harvey Milk. This was a great movie, and even if you are not familiar with the story of Harvey Milk, chances are you will enjoy this film.

One of my favorite movies starring Penn is Mystic River. This is a dark film, to say the least, and Penn pulled out all the stops in playing a dangerous father who lost his daughter in a mysterious crime. Clint Eastwood directed this incredible film.

One other fantastic film starring Penn was Dead Man Walking. This movie is about a nun who empathizes with both a convicted death row killer and the family of his victim.

One movie that must be mentioned in this list is I Am Sam. If you are looking for a serious tear jerker with incredible acting, then I Am Sam is a great option. Sean Penn was incredible in this movie.

Finally, one other movie that nabbed Penn an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role was 1999′s Sweet And Lowdown. This is a great music film.

These are just some of Sean Penn’s best films and a select few of the many that showcase his incredible versatility.
